QPR defender Matthew Rose was left red faced after it emerged team-mates could have been responsible for a changing room prank last week.
Rose thought he was the victim of a dressing room thief when he found his wallet including £200 cash was missing after Rangers' 2-0 home defeat to Birmingham.
A distressed Rose called Shepherds Bush police station after the night match at Loftus Road to report the "theft" which included his mobile phone.
The 30-year old's belongings were recovered the morning after and Rose is still looking to get to the bottom of the incident.
He said: "I think someone was mucking about. It's not happened to me before so maybe it was time I was on the end of it.
"The lads know I can panic about little things but I was panicing a bit when I couldn't find the stuff, nobody seemed to know where it was.
"Everything was found and returned the day after. Cat our kitman found the stuff in a washbag, we've all had a joke about it and I cancelled the police report straight away.
"You often get these sort of pranks going on at football clubs and if it was one, I'll be finding the culprit soon and getting my revenge."
